For Boys & Girls Ages U5–U9
Birth Dates:

• U5/U6: January 1, 2020-December 31, 2021
• U7/U8/U9: January 1, 2017-December 31-2019

Program Overview:

The FC Dulles REC Academy introduces players to our Grassroots Curriculum, with a focus on:

• Dribbling, passing, and receiving

• Shooting and finishing

• Basic attacking and defending tactics

• Sessions focus on play to encourage creativity and development through game-like situations. "The Game is the best teacher"

Players are generally grouped according to age: U5/U6 group and a U7/U8/U9 group.

Players meet 2 times per week for 7 weeks and will be evaluated for potential placement on future FC Dulles competitive travel teams.

• 7 weeks of Friday Free Play (Starts April 17, 2026)

• 7 weeks of Saturday REC Jamboree games (starts April 18, 2026)

• End-of-season closing ceremony and awards

• Coaches who are licensed, certified in SafeSport and have up-to-date background checks

• TeamSnap account for communication and scheduling

• FC Dulles practice t-shirt

• VYSA Membership

• Fairfax County Field User Fee (players residing outside of Fairfax County will are required to pay the Fairfax County Out-of-County Field user fee of $50)

• Soccer Ball. Coaches will hold onto the balls until the last session and distributed at closing ceremonies

• Uniform Kit (If haven't purchased previously): $75

• Extra FC Dulles Practice Shirts: $18 each

• Player equipment: cleats (recommended), shin guards (required), water bottle

Additional Notes:

*Dates, times, and field locations are subject to change based on coaches schedules and field availability. 
**Uniform kits will be distributed at the first practice session. If you already have an FC Dulles uniform you do not need to purchase a new one. 
***Age groups may be combined depending on enrollment and coach availability

February 6, 2026- Registration opens.

February 28, 2026- Grassroots/REC program early bird registration ends.

April 3, 2026- Deadline to register. 

First week of April- Email with confirmation and specifics regarding session times, locations, invitation to join TeamSnap.

Friday, April 17, 2026- First day of Free Play for REC Academy.

Saturday, April 18, 2026- first REC Jamboree games for the REC Academy

May 22 & 23- Holiday, no events scheduled.

Friday, June 5, 2026- Last day of Free-play for the REC Academy.

Saturday, June 6, 2026- Last REC Jamboree day for the REC Academy.

June 13 & June 14, 2026- Make-up sessions (if needed)

Our curriculum is based on national guidelines and designed to instill a lifetime of love & passion for the beautiful game of soccer.

At FC Dulles, we recognize that volunteer USSF-licensed coaches are a vital part of the success of our Recreational (REC) soccer program. We are committed to supporting our coaches by providing access to educational opportunities through the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) Coaching Education Department, as well as offering ongoing guidance and resources.

FC Dulles encourages volunteer coaches to take an active role in fostering a positive and developmental environment for all players. To support this commitment:

• Coaches receive an FC Dulles coaching polo (for games) and a practice t-shirt (for training).

• Parents who coach in our REC program are eligible for a tuition refund upon successful completion of the season.
